I went into Firstborn excited for a dystopian family mystery wrapped in romantasy. Instead I got a heroine who never grows, jarring POV shifts, and content that has no business being shelved as YA. Here's why I couldn't make it past 60%.

Cursed to turn into a dragon, teamed up with the slayer who's supposed to hunt her. Fire to the Stars has big ideas and a world I loved, but the characters and romance held it back.

This book made me sob in the early chapters and I was not okay about it. In the best way.
